Buyer Beware of Counterfeits

The greatest form of flattery is imitation. Unfortunately, this kind of imitation is not flattering to us at Kimber Kable, or our customers. Over the past year, we have seen a great increase in the amount of counterfeit Kimber Kable available on the internet. While these counterfeit cables may appear to LOOK genuine, they are a far cry from the quality and craftsmanship of products that we create. A perfect example of these counterfeits is our 8AG and 4AG speaker cables. We no longer manufacture these products but the internet if full of so-called Kimber AG cables. Any Kimber AG speaker cable selling online is absolutely suspect. The vast majority of these counterfeits are being produced overseas. A good rule of thumb is that if you are buying a ‘Kimber Kable’ product that is shipping from Hong Kong or China, it is more than likely fake. Kimber Kable speaker cables and interconnects are produced here in our facility in Ogden, Utah. Anything claiming to ‘ship from the factory overseas’ is simply a ploy to close the sale on these counterfeit goods. We advise customers to only buy from authorized Kimber Dealers. Beware of auction or bid sites, and any site that is shipping from overseas. Once the cable is purchased, there is nothing we can do.

Cable Authentication: Read this before sending photos or links

I have had many, many customers email me photos of suspect cables to try to determine if they are real or not. I will not give details about how we identify our product as it only serves to help the counterfiet cables look more convincing. If you bought from one of our authorized dealers or have a receipt of original purchase you can contact me directly for help with your cables. If you made the purchase online from a seller outside your country, I can almost guarantee the cables are fake or stolen. If you meet the approved criteria and need help please first contact your seller and then forward your question and their response to me at nate.mansfield@kimber.com

MORE FAKE CABLES??

It seems like this type of thing runs in cycles and we are seeing a dramatic increase in fake Kimber Kable right now. Specifically the websites DHGATE, ALIBABA, KABO.EN.ALIBABA, CRAST.EN.ALIBABA, 8AUDIOVIDEOSTORE8, AUDIOADVICES are not and have never been affiliated with authorized Kimber Kable sales. 8AG listed for $379.00, this is an obvious case of too good to be true and anyone who buys this type of product is encouraging the counterfeit market. I’ve seen alot of inquiry about this seller on the internet. I have been in contact with our distributor for Malaysi, Singapore and Indonesia to try to find out if this is a legitimate dealer or not. It is clear to me that they are not authorized and the goods would be very suspect to me.

When Braiders Go Bad

I just thought this would be of interest to folks like me who love to see how something is made. Here is a sample of 8TC that got hung in the braider. Further testament to the level of personal craftsmanship that goes into every cable we make. This photo shows some 8TC (bottom) that got stuck on the braider compared to standard run 8TC. The super tight version consumes three times the amount of material per foot and is super stiff. It doesn’t happen often so this is a rare glimpse into our screw ups.
